How to choose a motor for your plane

Follow these simple rules when choosing a motor for your plane.


Weight of Plane x Flight Performance = Watts of Motor Needed

100 Watts/Pound = Slow and Scale Flyers

150 Watts/Pound = Sport Flying

175 Watts/Pound = 3D Flying

200 Watts/Pound = Extreme 3D Flying


Types of Motors:

Inrunners: Designed for higher RPM and low torque.

Outrunners: Designed for low to mid range RMP and high torque.
