Converting a Drift Car to a Rally Car
Posted by on 19 September 2012 10:25 AM

Playing around with the Exceed-RC Drift Series has been a lot of fun, but now you want to rally. You wanna hit those bumps, dips, ramps, and go through dirt like its your birthday. Sadly, with the drift wheels, you won't be able to get enough traction to do all the things you want with a rally car. But it's very simple to convert from Drift to Rally, here's how:

Tools/Parts You Will Need:

  • Phillips Screw Driver
  • Wheel Nut Wrench
  • Spring Spacers
  • Set of Buggy/Off-Road Tires
  • New Rally Body

First thing you're going to do, is to take off the drift wheels from the body. Take the Wheel Nut Wrench and loosen the nuts. Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty as they say. Once you have taken off the nuts, remove the wheel. Repeat this on all 4 wheels.

Once you have removed all 4 tires, replace those tires with the Off-Road tires. Pretty simple right? Now put on the nuts. Make sure you get the nuts nice and tight, you don't want them falling out during your runs, cause they are hard to find.

Now, onto the shocks. Take the Spring Spacers, and put them onto your shocks. Put them at the top by pushing down the spring and fitting the spacers in. Take the Phillips Screw Driver and adjust the shocks according to your preference. Remember, rally cars are going through a lot of dips and jumps, so keep that in mind when your adjusting the shocks.

Finally, putting on the body. You're almost there, you're car is pretty much complete. The last bit of advice for the body is to push it higher. You don't want the body to be scraping along in the dirt while your driving it around. To adjust this simply move the Body Clips of your car up.

And that's how you do it. Simple. Easy. Fun. If you want a more visual example of how to do it, check out the video below, cheers and happy driving!
