The P38 Lightning is a unique plane that played various roles in World War II. It has twin booms and a single central nacelle containing the cockpit. It was named the "fork tail devil" by the Luftwaffe and "two plane, one pilot" by the Japanese. The P38 served many different missions including dive bombing, level bombing, ground-attack, night fighting, photo reconnaissance, and long range escort fighter. It earned itself and awesome reputation in the war.
The Airwing P38 is constructed out of durable and lightweight EPO foam. It is equipped with retractable wheels on all 3 corners as well as a steerable nose wheel to allow for taxing on the runway. The retracts are servoless mechanical types that allow for scale operation. 3 bladed propellers are driven by twin 760KV brushless motors to give it that scale appearance. The motors are powered by twin 30 amp brushless electronics speed controllers fed by a 11.1v 2600mah lithium polymer battery. Navigation lights light up the dark sky to enable the pilot to see it when flying in dusk or dawn. The Control surfaces are delegated by eleven 9gram high speed micro servos for precise and authoritative control. This P38 requires minimum assembly to fly and is offered in a silver or camo color scheme. Install your radio system and a battery and enjoy the unique and beautiful silhouette of the P38 in the sky.
